Purpose: The aims of this study were to develop a self-determination theory (SDT)-based improvement program for adolescents with history non-suicidal self-injury and examine the effects on basic psychological needs (i.e. autonomy, competence, relationship), self-esteem, self-injury.Methods: This consisted one-group pretest-posttest design. participants 33 students in first second years middle school, who recruited from five schools located specific area. had self-injury. experimental group received SDT-based twice week 4 weeks. was carried out October November 26, 2021, data analyzed using SPSS Windows version 25.0 paired t-test.Results: effective needs, prevention self-injury.Conclusion: results suggest that can be used as an mental health nursing intervention improve self-esteem prevent
